Getting Creative with Getting Ready Photos

Before the dress. Before the timeline. Before everyone starts asking where their shoes are…Some of the best wedding photos happen right at the beginning of the day when things are calm, a little chaotic in the most fun way, and full of anticipation.

The Mini Bridal Moment (Highly Recommended)

One of my favorite things to do on a wedding morning is a quick little bridal moment before getting dressed. Think of it as a warm-up, not a photoshoot.

No posing experience required.

This can be:

  • You in a robe or comfy outfit
  • Coffee in hand, music playing
  • Standing by a window, stretching, laughing, taking it all in

It’s relaxed, it’s fun, and it gives you images that feel very you without the pressure of “okay now we’re officially doing wedding photos.”

Let’s Talk About the Details (They’re Not Just Pretty)

Detail photos aren’t about making everything look perfect. They’re about capturing the little things that show personality like rings, shoes, florals, handwritten notes, heirlooms, all of it.

These photos help set the scene and give your gallery rhythm. They’re the quiet moments before everything picks up speed.

Getting Ready Photos Are Real Life, Not a Checklist

Getting ready photos aren’t about staged moments or forcing smiles. They’re about what’s actually happening in the room.

The laughter.

The helping hands.

The “wait, where did my veil go?” moment.

Those in-between moments are usually the ones people end up loving the most.

Why These Photos End Up Being Favorites

These photos take you back to the beginning. Before the ceremony, before the crowd, before the nerves really kick in. They capture how the day felt, not just how it looked.

Detail and getting ready photos aren’t filler. They’re the opening chapter.

And honestly, they’re a lot of fun!
